Being a security guard is a very flexible career path, it can be a long term, full-time pursuit, an excellent addition to income from other sources or a source of flexible income while studying.
To work as a Security Guard in WA you must have a Security Officer Licence. To be eligible for this licence you need to have completed a Certificate II in Security Operations with an approved training provider and have a current first aid certificate. The total costs associated with this are around $1,500, including the Security Officer Licence application fee (currently $539 for a three-year licence).
We understand that for some people this upfront investment amount is not within reach, so in order to assist individuals to get a start in the security industry, NPB is offering short-term financial assistance to help cover these initial costs.
Upon successful completion of the required training and licencing, the individual will be guaranteed priority employment with NPB Security. The loan monies will be repayable over a 3-month period, on commencement of paid work with NPB Security.
There are 10 places available in this program.
To be considered for this opportunity individuals will need to complete the application form. All applications received will be reviewed and assessed fairly.
Fifteen (15) applicants will be shortlisted to progress to interview stage. Only the successful applicants will be contacted and invited to attend an interview.
At interview stage, ten (10) applicants will be awarded a place in the program, with successful candidates contacted by NPB directly.
The purpose of this program is to facilitate a start in the security industry by assisting individuals with payment of the upfront costs associated with acquiring a Security Officer Licence.
The program money is to be used for the sole purpose of paying for the nominated individuals to complete Certificate II in Security Operations and obtaining the Security Officer Licence.
The program monies will not be paid to the individual direct but will be paid to the Registered Training Organisation (RTO) providing the pre-requisite course, with the contractual relationship existing between NPB Security Australia Pty Ltd and the RTO.
Similarly, the Security Officer Licence application fee will be paid directly to Western Australia Police Force Licencing Services (The Commissioner of Police) on behalf of the applicant.
Upon successful completion of the Security Operations course and receipt of the Security Officer Licence, the individual will be provided with the opportunity to commence working for NPB Security Australia Pty Ltd. It is expected that a continuous commitment will be made by the applicant to repay NPB Security Australia Pty Ltd in full at their earliest convenience, with a minimum repayment of $100 a fortnight. NPB Security Australia Pty Ltd will provide ample opportunity and shift selection to ensure the applicant can facilitate the loan repayment within a 6-month period.
Until the full loan amount is to be repaid to NPB Security Australia Pty Ltd, the individual will not work for any other security company unless authorised in writing from NPB Security Australia Pty Ltd.
In the event that the individual fails to complete the course and/or is not granted a Security Officer licence, the individual is required to repay the course component amount ($900) back to NPB Security Australia Pty Ltd.
Similarly, should the individual successfully complete the course and receive a Security Officer Licence and not commence work with NPB Security Australia Pty Ltd, the full loan amount ($1,500) is to be repaid to NPB Security Australia Pty Ltd.
The successful completion of the program requirements and commencement of work with NPB Security Australia Pty Ltd may be announced on the NPB Security Australia Pty Ltd website and/or social media networks and used by NPB Security Australia Pty Ltd for marketing and promotional purposes.
Legal action through the Magistrates Court will be taken should the Terms and Conditions of this agreement be broken.
